Driving, worship, and knowing His heart.

I’m about to drive to Edinburgh for the evening to spend some time praying with/for friends.

That’s about a three hour drive. There. And back.

Some people have told me that sounds just a little bit crazy.

Maybe it is.

But I’m looking forward to an evening well spent.

Time well spent.

Worshipping and joining the song of heaven, and just aligning our hearts to our Father’s heart, and corporately expecting Him to speak, and reveal and move…

That’s just the most beautiful thing.

And tonight, as much as I love to meet with friends, and have long catch ups, and drink plentiful cups of tea… I’m really excited to meet with Holy Spirit.

In a new way.

In a real way.

In a way that refreshes the deep places of my heart.

In a way that more than overtakes the sacrifice of any physical tiredness.

So my playlist is drawn up, my mind is a-little-weary from a day interviewing at the office, but my heart is awake.

And expectant.

And because I need to get on the road, I’m simply going to leave you with the lyrics of a song that I look forward to worshipping with later. It’s by Amanda Cook, and it’s beautiful.

You have ravished my heart

And taken me over, taken me over

Now all I want is to be

With You forever, with You forever

So pull me a little closer

And take me a little deeper

I want to know Your heart

I want to know Your heart

‘Cause Your love is so much sweeter

Than anything I’ve tasted

I want to know Your heart

I want to know Your heart

How great Your love is for me

How great is Your love

So pull me a little closer

And take me a little deeper

I want to know Your heart

I want to know Your heart

‘Cause Your love is so much stronger

Than anything I’ve faced

I want to know Your heart

I want to know Your heart.

I love that.

Your love is so much stronger than anything I’ve faced.

That is so, so, so abundantly true.

And that gives so much vision, and hope, and joy when you think about the future. Only in His will am I free. Only in His heart and His vision and His purposes for my life am I alive. And the wonderful, beautiful thing is that as Psalm 138 v 8 says, ‘The Lord will fulfil His purpose for me’, because His love endures forever.

That’s a certainty.

An unchanging, unfailing certainty.

So I just want to know His heart.

Abba, I want to know Your heart.
