Walking in His steps.

I have a group of wonderful prayer partners.

Friends who are committed to praying for me.

And those who I am committed to standing with in prayer.

About the big things and the small things and the medium sized things.

About life’s joys, and life’s despairs, and life’s breakthroughs.

But in agreement with their heart for God’s heart.

And over this last week, a number of my friends have asked for prayer for God’s guidance for their future, for open doors that cannot be closed, and for a vision that aligns with Holy Spirit.

And I’ve been praying.

That they would walk in His steps.

And I’ve been asking that they would continue to pray the same things for my life.

That I can walk in His steps.

And as I was praying for people this morning, I was thinking of the words to the Ginny Owens song ‘If You want me to’.

Because this song is about walking, and trusting, and following, and being refined through the journey.

And I love that thought.

And the words were in my head so much that I actually downloaded the sheet music to play it properly on the piano! 🙂

So I’ll share them as an encouraging evening thought…

The pathway is broken, the signs are unclear

And I don’t know the reason why You brought me here

But just because You love me the way that You do

I’ll walk through the valley if You want me to.

Because I’m not who I was when I took my first step

And I’m clinging to the promise You’re not through with me yet

So if all of these trials bring me closer to You

Then I will go through the fire if You want me to.

It may not be the way I would have chosen

When You lead me through a world that’s not my home

But You never said it would be easy

You only said I’d never go alone.

So when the whole world turns against me

And I’m all by myself

And I can’t hear You answer my cries for help

I’ll remember the suffering Your love put You through

And I will go through the valley if You want me to.

So when I cross over Jordan, I’m gonna sing, I’m gonna shout

I’m gonna look into Your eyes and see You never let me down

So lead me on the pathway that brings me home to You

And I will go through the valley if You want me to.
