The Lion and the Lamb.

So after the pretty epic post of yesterday, today will be a more simple, gentle reflection 🙂

About Jesus.

In Revelation 5, we are given this beautiful glimpse into a scene in heaven. A scene where Jesus has conquered and shown Himself as the One found worthy. A scene where He is described as the Lion of Judah. And then as the Lamb that was slain.

It seems like a paradox doesn’t it? How can someone be both like a Lion and a Lamb? The symbol of victory and the symbol of sacrifice? At the same time. The symbol of strength and the symbol of meekness? At the same time. The symbol of battle and the symbol of gentleness? At the same time.

Hosea 11 v 10 describes it like this.

They will follow the Lord; He will roar like a lion. When He roars, his children will come trembling…’

He will roar like a Lion, and yet instead of running in fear, we will run to Him. Right to Him. Right into His arms.

Because although He is a warrior, He is gentle. And although He is a Judge, He is merciful. And although He is a King, He delights in me.

He is victorious in His sacrifice. He is strong in His meekness. He fights for us as our defender so that the weak find their refuge in Him.

He is Jesus.

He is God.

Jesus. What a beautiful name.
